
Kelly Aizicowitz joined EECC’s board in 2023 and was recently appointed to the position of Chair at EECC. She is the SVP of a healthcare marketing company, and mom to a very active toddler. She has seen the first hand benefits of the EECC as a participant of the Baby Time program, and during the Saturday drop in program. Previous to her current role, Kelly worked at Queens Park for the provincial government, in the Ministers of Education and Culture, and Premier’s Office. Kelly enjoys baking, cooking, and loves to travel with her family.

Katee Hui M.B.E. joined our board in 2024 and was recently appointed to the position of Secretary. Katee works in brand strategy and corporate responsibility. A social entrepreneur at heart, she’s set up a number of nonprofits in the UK, including Hackney Laces, a football (soccer) community for girls and women. Having lived abroad for 15 years, she loves living in the east end of Toronto alongside her partner, their toddler and miniature dachshund.

Maureen Chow joined our board in 2023 and was recently appointed to the position of Treasurer at EECC. She is a mother to a preschooler and discovered the EECC by participation through its EarlyON program. She is a paralegal who has worked in human rights in the non-profit and public sectors for over 15 years. Maureen has lived in the east end of Toronto her entire life and seeks out opportunities to be involved in the community. In her spare time, she enjoys playing volleyball, reading, travelling and spending time with her family.

Mandy Vaughan brings over a decade of experience in marketing and communications, with a deep commitment to community-building and inclusive engagement. A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in Communication Studies, Mandy has led strategic initiatives for both corporate and non-profit organizations, using storytelling and outreach to strengthen brand impact and connect with diverse audiences. Her professional journey reflects a long-standing passion for equity, accessibility, and early learning. As a parent and advocate, Mandy is proud to support the East End Children’s Centre’s mission to provide high-quality care in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Shivani Lahar was first introduced to EECC as a participant where she attended various classes/sessions with her two children. She became a Board Member in 2023. Shivani has worked in the Financial Services industry for over 15, with an expertise in Governance, Compliance and Risk. She is passionate about the community and fostering a safe and educational environment for children of all backgrounds.

Anastasia Zaver is a senior marketer that enjoys the diversity of juggling projects from copywriting and design, events and PR, and everything in between. She became fond of living in East York in just a few short years, volunteering at numerous organizations in the area. With a passion for travel and adventure that came to a halt during the pandemic, and now with a young daughter attached to her hip, she turned her focus on discovering her own end of the city which led her through the doors of the East End Children’s Centre. Shortly after, in May 2022, Anastasia officially joined our Board.

Kathryn Rutherford is an east end mom of two who started as a participant at EECC in 2022. Kathryn is a Registered Nurse, Lactation Counselor and currently works with electronic medical records. Kathryn’s true passion is in climate advocacy and volunteers with several climate-related organizations. She hopes to bring a lens of climate and its intersections with health to her role on the board of the East End Children’s Centre.

Anna Nowak is a mom of 2 toddlers and has been living in East York for 5 years (and Toronto on and off for 15). She is a CPA with experience across profit and non-profits, currently working in financial services. Having loved travelling and living abroad in earlier chapters of her life, she is looking to put down more roots and contribute to her community, especially those places that she and her family have enjoyed being participants of. Anna joined EECC’s board in 2023.

Christine Doucet has lived in East York for the past decade with her husband and two children. Christine is a lawyer and for the past twelve years has been practicing in the areas of child protection and family law. Christine holds a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and a BSW from York University. Christine is passionate about community service. She is also an active member of the legal community and regularly mentors law students and new lawyers. A 2025 recruit, Christine is thrilled to be joining the EECC Board to support the work of this vital community organization.

Paul Dudar joined the board in the spring of 2025. He is the proud father of a toddler and has been coming to the EECC programming since she was 8 months old. Paul and his wife Alex both credit EECC in helping them set down roots in the neighbourhood and helping their daughter mature. Paul’s family history in the neighbourhood goes back to the late-60s when his grandparents and his father moved to Norlong Blvd. Paul and his wife, Alex, moved back to the East End in late 2020.
Paul has spent over a decade working in film and TV as an assistant director and, more recently, in visual effects. These days, he’s shifting gears and starting a new path in education. He works with the TDSB as an Emergency Replacement Person and is excited to give back to the EECC community that’s given so much to his family.

Soraya Wilks joined our board in May 2025. She is a mother to a toddler boy and has been an active participant in East End Children’s Centre programs since discovering them through other local parents. She brings over a decade of experience working with educators and students in after-school programming and currently works at Xello, an education technology company that supports K–12 students in building essential skills for future readiness, including career exploration and planning.
Soraya is passionate about community engagement and expanding access to inclusive family support. She lives in the east end of Toronto and is excited to contribute to the Centre’s mission of helping families connect and thrive. When she’s not chasing after her toddler or energetic 10-year-old dog, she enjoys yoga, running, volunteering with local organizations, and relaxing with her husband.
